Is Spiritual Direction For You?

The Young Adult Years are a time of searching for Spiritual depth. It's a time for such questions as:

What gives my life meaning?
Is there more to me than my job?
What will bring me happiness?
Will I ever find the love of my life?
How can I grow closer to God?
How do you pray?

Among us today are some very gifted people known as spiritual directors. Essentially, they help us tap into the presence of God within us. Spiritual Direction is an opportunity to deepen your relationship with God, explore the ways God is active in your life, and see things more clearly. It involves meeting one on one with a trained professional on a short-term or on-going basis.

Spiritual Director Ms. Maureen Kuhn describes the process: “It involves meeting regularly with another person to discover God’s presence and action in everyday life. Spiritual direction invites us to respond to God in a healthy and life-giving way. It is paying attention to and working on our relationship with God.” In a brochure Maureen has written about Spiritual Direction, she lists eight responses to the question “What can spiritual direction do for me?”

Spiritual direction provides ---
1. A companion for the ups and downs of life.
2. An opportunity for developing your relationship with God
3. A new perspective to spiritual questions.
4. Accountability for life’s challenges.
5. An incentive to evaluate your priorities.
6. An opportunity to recognize God’s purpose and place in your everyday life.
7. A place to experience God’s unconditional love.
8. A resource on your journey toward wholeness in God.

The Young Adult Ministry Office is delighted to assist you in finding a spiritual director. Below are some options. If you have any questions regarding the people listed below or the process, please contact us at 312-466-9473.
