The Spiritual Invitations of Transition at Work
Promotion. Laid off. New boss. Transition at work, positive or negative, can be the seedbed for spiritual growth. We will explore how to deepen our sense of self and more fully express faith in our daily lives by heeding our calling, taking risks, admitting failure and acknowledging others.

Mr. Al Gustafson is the Director of the Crossroads Institute and a founding partner of the Career Transitions Center of Chicago. He is an adjunct professor at Benedictine University and president of a private foundation for young children at risk.

Sharing Your Giftsà. For a Change
When was the last time you wanted to work for change in the world and in yourself through volunteer service? Come to be guided through a discernment process, hear stories of conversion through volunteerism, and learn strategies for making volunteer service a valuable experience.

Mr. Mark Laboe is Executive Director of Amate House, the young adult volunteer program for the Archdiocese of Chicago. He has a master's in Divinity from Loyola and a bachelor's in Theology and Economics. He spent 2 à years as a lay missionary in Chile.

Finding Christ in the Marketplace

Living and witnessing the Gospel message is a challenge in the busy world of work. Our spiritual life may be alive in the community where we worship, but how do we practice what was preached on Sunday? We will explore different ways to find and bring Christ to your work.

Brother Tom Minta is the Manager of Statewide Employment for the Department of Human Services/Office of Rehabilitation. Services. He holds a bachelor's from DePaul and has completed graduate work at Loyola. He is certified in American Sign Language Interpreting.

How to Decide what You Want to Do (With the Rest of Your Life)
Would you like some help sorting out your skills, interests, strengths, unique gifts, and passions? Tom will start from the perspective of personal responsibility, proceed to some ways of answering questions about personal career choices, and conclude with some learnings.

Dr. Thomas E. Murray is Executive Director of the Career Transitions Center of Chicago. To assist people in career decisions he created the Institute for Entrepreneurship. Tom worked in teaching, counseling, consulting, and directing not-for-profit organizations.

Discerning Our Calling
We will explore questions for discerning a calling that is inspired by a sense of personal purpose and vision, motivated by our deeper passions and desires, grounded in a realistic recognition and our unique gifts and talents, and guided by a sense of social responsibility and compassion.

Dr. John Neafsey, Psy. D is a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice of psychotherapy and consultation. He also teaches religion, psychology and the psychological and spiritual dimensions of vocation at Loyola. His family is a member of St. Gertrude's parish.

Would Your Mother be Proud of You? Ethics for the Overwhelmed
A colleague approaches you at a cocktail party and says: "You didn't hear this from me, but I think you should knowà" How do you respond? This workshop will focus on the importance of maintaining personal integrity through truth-telling and concrete ideas on being ethical.

Sr. Susan Sanders, RSM is the director of the Center for Religion and Public Discourse and Associate Professor of Public Policy at St. Xavier University. She received a doctorate and a master's in Public Policy and has been published in academic and trade journals and books.

The Balancing Act: Your Job vs. the Rest of Your Life

This interactive workshop will explore reasons and strategies for juggling the demands of work, play, family and personal time. We will develop ways in which to achieve a more balanced lifestyle.

Mr. Eric Weinheimer is the Executive Director of the CARA program, a nonprofit organization that assists homeless individuals. Previously, Eric worked in corporate banking for ten years. He has an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Faith as a Guiding Force in Your Work
Does faith have any role in your work place? Of course it does! Decisions need to be made, values and hopes need to be shared, and our God given talent contributes to the development of God's world. No matter what work you do, come to discuss how faith is an important part of doing your job well.

Mr. Al Castillo is the Director of Hispanic Communications and formerly the Director for the Millennium Office. He attended Quigley North and Niles College, holds an MBA from UIC and is a parishioner at Divine Infant Jesus in Westchester.
