Permission to Host Theology-on-Tap - Information & Guidelines
_______________________________________

The title “Theology-on-Tap” and the program’s design was trademarked by the Young Adult Ministry Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2001 (Service Mark Reg. No. 2,509,515). In order for any individual, organization, or group of organizations to host the program or use the title or logo for any purpose, they must first obtain permission in writing from the Archdiocese of Chicago. We are strictly enforcing that copyright in order to ensure that the program remains a strong, credible tool of evangelization and catechesis for young adults (20s & 30s, married and single).

To obtain permission to host the program, you will need to complete and return the enclosed form. Please read the guidelines below carefully, and contact us with any questions. By signing the form, you are agreeing to follow all of the guidelines. If everything is in order, you will receive permission in writing to host the program until Dec. 31, 2006.

A Theology-on-Tap manual was written so that parishes, universities, and organizations new to the program could learn from and build upon the success of previous Theology-on-Tap sessions. That manual, which can be purchased for $25.00, contains:

· background and purpose
· a step by step planning guide / the organizational structure
· information about the target group
· a suggested curriculum of catechesis, and information on choosing speakers
· a strategy for effectively outreaching young adults
· a ‘road map’ from the point of view from a hosting committee member
· helpful hints for success
· samples of letters of invitation, sessions, bulletin and pulpit announcements, hints on hospitality, answers to frequently asked questions, lists of topics that have been addressed, copies of the Theology-on-Tap logo, and sample publicity.

Although it is not required that you purchase the manual prior to hosting Theology-on-Tap, it is an incredibly helpful resource, and we hope that you will purchase at least one copy.

Again, permission to host Theology-on-Tap is given to parishes, universities, organizations, and dioceses that agree to the following guidelines. If you intend to host the program, please review the information below then complete and return the Permission to Host Form. If any area is a point of concern, please feel free to contact us at (312) 466-9473 or email yam@yamchicago.org to discuss the matter further. Thank you!

Guidelines for Hosting Theology-on-Tap

1. Theology-on-Tap is to be hosted exclusively for young adults - women and men in their 20s and 30s, married and single.

2. Please send one copy of all of your publicity to Young Adult Ministry, Archdiocese of Chicago (snail mail and e-mail). We are tracking where Theology-on-Tap is taking place around the country for a national TOT website. Please contact us every time you being a new season of the program.

3. Theology-on-Tap is built around a strong sense of invitation and hospitality. Those who host the program are asked to make a commitment of direct, personal invitation to this often-neglected generation, and offer gracious hospitality once they are gathered.

4. Theology-on-Tap was developed by the Catholic Church for its young adults, and by design, the program teaches the Catholic faith and traditions. However, young adults of all faiths and denominations are invited to attend.

5. Credit needs to be given to the Young Adult Ministry Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago whenever information about Theology-on-Tap is put in print. Credit is given by printing: Theology-on-Tap copyright 2001 by the Young Adult Ministry Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago, 312.466.9473, 711 W. Monroe, Chicago, IL, 60661.

6. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, the program is co-sponsored by neighboring parishes, and free of charge to participants. Inviting young adults to come without a registration fee is another extension of gracious hospitality. Consider such sponsorship.

7. Speakers should be chosen based on their faith, their expertise in a particular area, their ability to deliver solid theology, and their ability to hold the interest of this generation. All speakers should be compensated for their time and gifts.

8. Theology-on-Tap works well in the Archdiocese of Chicago as a four-week summer series. You are free to develop your own spin on the program: Lenten series, eight-week winter series, etc.-based on what you have found to work well for your young adults. However, design the program so that it has a definite beginning and ending.

9. Please consider purchasing the Theology-on-Tap manual. It will be helpful to both your planning and your understanding of the program. Also, we would appreciate you contacting us to let us know how it went; we are tracking the success of the program throughout the country.

10. Should you choose to continue hosting the program beyond Dec. 31, 2006, you will need to submit a new “Permission to Host” form.
